The administration of Mansehra district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa reopened all hotels in tourist destinations including Naran, Kagan and Sugaran after keeping them closed for three days due to cases of coronavirus.
Hotels have been allowed to reopen their premises after completing the quarantine of staff members who have tested positive for chlorine and corona.
Speaking to Dawn.com, Mansehra Additional Deputy Commissioner Maqbool Hussain said the decision to open the hotels was taken in view of the large number of tourists visiting the northern districts.
“We have reopened all the hotels in the district, including Sugaran, Naran and Kagan, and allowed tourists to enter,” he said.
The Additional Deputy Commissioner said, “The hotel management has been strictly instructed to follow the SOPs of Code-19 and in case of failure, legal action will be taken against them.”
He said that the district administration has registered a case against the five hotels which had violated the ban, however, the hotels have been allowed to open.
Maqbool Hussain said that the victims of code-19 in hotels have been kept in isolation.
To a question, he said that the hotel management would provide rooms to the guest after confirming that he did not suffer from any symptoms.
Hazara Division Commissioner Riaz Mehsud also confirmed that all closed hotels have been allowed to reopen.
“All the hotels have been allowed to reopen after being closed for three days and the hotels have been sprayed regularly,” he said.
Riaz Mehsud said the number of tourists in the area was high and the administration was trying to implement SOPs to curb the spread of the Korna virus.
He said that tourists are also cooperating fully with the administration.
According to the commissioner, extensive testing has been started at tourist destinations, with about 33,000 tests conducted in Naran and Kagan.
He further said that all the staff members of the hotels in the said areas have been tested for corona and guidelines are being followed.
